‘Fall’ in love with the new MBC
A big big thank you!
Let’s give a shout out to the 2019 Breastfeeding in the Bay State Conference Committee for another wonderful year of stimulating presentations. For those of you that could not join us, highlighted ‘likes’ from MBC members included Laurel Wilson’s presentation on the first nutrition for a human outside the womb-human milk, and how detrimental and vast the effects of breastmilk are on epigenetics. Hint: Your moms, moms, moms stress level has likely impacted how you are. Also, we heard inspiring stories from 3 ladies who work with the Vital Village Association’s Boston Breastfeeding Coalition as they continue to address racial inequities in lactation education and training through their Service Learning and Leadership Model.
As we are NOW beginning to plan for next year’s conference, we are brainstorming presentations that support a possible theme of “skills that can be applied to everyday lactation practice”-let us know any ideas at info@massbreastfeeding.org.

New List- Serve
ATTENTION!
We are phasing out the use of our old email service. This email chain served as a list-serve to connect MBC members. If you received emails from this list-serve, it would have come through as a yahoo email.
As part of our effort to better serve our members, we are switching to a Google Group message service.
This means two things: One, if you have not joined MBC and paid the 2019-2020 MBC membership dues YOU WILL NOT CONTINUE TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE MBC LIST-SERVE. Please support the advocacy efforts of MBC, and continue to participate in valuable breastfeeding discussions by JOINING MBC for the 2019-2020 membership year!
Two, we are going to have one Main MBC Google Group as well as additional Google Groups for our amazing subcommittees. If you attended our annual meeting after Breastfeeding in the Bay State and signed up to help with a special project subcommittee (i.e. Conference Planning, Breastfeeding Business Awards, or MBC Giving Tree Supporter Drive), please keep an eye out for invitations to those groups. If you are interested in joining a subcommittee we NEED you! Please email info@massbreastfeeding.org to get additional information.
*Date for switching email services is projected for November 3rd, 2019.

Keynote speaker suggestions, ideas, clinical/community breakouts or plenary format
This year we had plenary format for the day. It was suggested that we alternate each year: Morning Plenary and breakouts in 2020 …However, breakouts=more speakers, which is more costly.
Suggestions for potential topics and speakers:
Maya Bolman RN, IBCLC-Therapeutic Breast Massage
Dee Casing or another speaker to focus on the Newest Pumps on the market (Willow, Hakah, others) https://www.bfsupportservices.com/professionals.html
Fawn Rosenberg DMD (Specializes in Tongue Tie/ Laser Lingual Frenectomy) she is also a member of MBC and lives in Lexington MA
