BID Plymouth is 13th Baby-Friendly Facility

Today Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth was designated as a Baby-Friendly facility, marking the 13th such facility in the Commonwealth out of 46. Now, approximately 18.1% of births in Massachusetts occur in Baby-Friendly facilities.

CDC data for 2014 births (most recent available) shows initiation rates in Massachusetts are 89.2%, with any breastfeeding at 6 months at 43%. Exclusive breastfeeding at 3 months was 52.8% and at 6 months was 29.6%.
